Sometimes it just pays to be in tesco at the right time.

Up at the fish counter "can i have that whole salmon please, oh and can you fillet it for me?"

" I'm very sorry sir but the fishmonger has gone home and i've never filleted a salmon before, so wouldn't want to make a mess of it. But let me see what i can do about the price for you"

It was already half price, the main reason i was buying it.

"How does £8.67 sound sir?"

"Sold"

Once i'd filleted and pin boned it.

Got 14 good sized steaks out of them, deal of the week if i do say so myself.

thats some tidy looking filleting too.
  • Cheers sheeps, actually the first time i've filleted a salmon, only had about a half cup of wasteage near the tail, that the dog was more than happy to scoff.

  • Bargain. Now get a bit of teriyaki sauce, some rice and a little bit stir fry veggies and make a stir fry.

    Don't like salmon, but a deal's a deal.

    God work

It was a good deal, but he's hardly a god for getting it!:lol:

Seriously, that looks lush, i love salmon! even better when you just caught it an gutted it in the sea, then chuck it on the fire.
    I like bikes and stuff

I used to be a fishmonger in Tesco many moons ago, and so I can vouch that you've done a great job on a fantastic deal!

£8.67 for a fish? Fook me sideways, the amount of meat you get for that is crazy.

Be a man and fish it yourself with a spear.

I'm gonna assume you dont do much food shopping, and haven't glanced at the price of a prepackaged salomon steak.

And your advice as wonderful as it is is just silly, as it would cost me more in diesel to find a salmon than it cost me to buy the fish.

    :D
