Someone on here once said 'if you need to ask, don't' and without being rude it's not a bad responce. I ran tubs for 20 years, first for al riding and then just racing but to be honest clinchers are so good these days i don't bother.
To answer your questions, they are not hard to fit and you can use sealant. I always used tub tape exept for on the track where you use glue. Bit of a technique with both and takes some time but not hard. You have to carry a spare with glue or tape already on preferably and that takes up a bit of space. If you puncture again you're bu*****d.
You can fix punctures but it takes ages and you need to be handy with a needle and thread. You can't swap tyres like with clinchers, in a few minutes.

If you are racing on them(TT or Road) then buy them, it's not as difficult as it seems, plenty of online guides on Youtube etc. I have just had my first season on Tubs for racing and it's been fine and I love them but I don't think I would bother for just general riding.

Mmm, not really a very good answer is it??. If we weren't born with knowledge we ask, simple.

Punctures and cost are the downsides.. Handling, and weight reduction are the upsides.

My get out of jail free card is my mobile and a spare set of wheels (clinchers) in the garage that my wife brings out, though it's not happened yet..
  • I just love that response.....run some tubs and if you puncture get on the phone to the missus and she will fetch out a spare wheel.....classic!

Maybe if you butter her up a bit more she might actually follow you on your rides in the family car, handing out food and drink as well as offering mechanical support.

Where's my credit card....i'm buying some Tubs and getting my missus to do the same!
