One of my mates has got a VW Transporter, he`s put a rear bench in the back so it can seat 4/5 ppl easy. You can also get the same amount of bikes in the back no problem. Something like a Warrior would be sweet, fit 5 ppl in it and put all the bikes in the back

Someone mentioned a Delica up the page, man I'd love one of those. Saw a poptop camper conversion in the borders one time, that'd be ace. Not just your regular everyday modern ace either, proper classic ace like when we were kids.

Mazda Bongo is another one... It's got a stupid name and they're not cheap to run but it'll be a van if you want it one day, then a minibus the next, then a campervan for the weekends away. Fab. And not too expensive either, you'd barely get a rusted out shell of a Bay for that money.

might just squeeze the 4 peeps in the back but no way are you getting a bike in the back of a 3 series estate with the back seats up, might get a helmet n a smallish camelback in the back  .

There is only one choice really ( depending on your budget ) , VW Transporter T5 , I run a LWB 130 bhp Kombi , its really versitile , a real multi - van . Quick , reliable , comfortable , economical , 5 or 6 seater ( removable rears if factory floor mounts are used - you can fit the seats and factory floor mounts yourself ) The fact that the rear is panelled in means that the lowlife can't see your precious load in the back , I fitted a removable bulkhead with a frame that means I can get 5 bikes with wheels on , 5 people and ALL their gear in , try this in a double, you won't be crammed up like sardines , no double cabs have any rear legroom no matter what their owners think , and if you put a canopy on a D-Cab it becomes a complete pain to get stuff out the back . Get one like mine with a lift up tailgate and you have shelter , room inside the front to change ( even better if you can get a pull out awning.) Worried about getting stuck - look for a 4 Motion version and your laughing , not anywhere near proper 4WD capability but better than you would think . I fitted the factory cruise control ( not expensive ) for those long trips . When away on holiday I move the bulkhead back , click the seats further back and slide in a cooker / cabinet unit which makes the perfect day-van , only difference is I have to take the front wheel of both bikes to get them in the back securely. MPG is about 36mpg and plenty of power , the 174 bhp is great but the 130 is more than adequate. Pics of my van are on flickr - search for Transporter T5 Van New Graphics - Cheers
