is there any difference between the pro/team/comp/sport frames, or is it just the bits, the bloke in the shop dident seem to know and the descriptions seem to indicate the more expensive ones are better (lighter, "extra double butted" WTF?) frames?

i have an insurance payout coming which should include new reba forks and god knows what frame they will offer me but it has to be halfords: the boardman fits well, would suit my riding and all are nice spec for the price

i have to discuss it with them again tommorow, "like for like" is a hardroc sport disc + rebas+£150 other bits i had reciepts for.

what should my opening gambit be?

If they are, then the Boardman page is very misleading! As far as I was aware the Pro and Team use a lighter custom butted frame rather than the more basic ones on the Sport and Comp.

thought as much, that leaves me an option of accepting a lower end frame and demanding a set of rebas as well.

    EDITS

hell sonic, i looked at the specs in store and the differnce was "lightweight extra double butted" as opposed to "lightweight double butted" as opposed to "double butted"

i assumed it was marketing guff.

need to know this as the insurance payout is timely for an upgrade, so i will be sticking some cash into this, need to know its being well spent :?

boardman page is misleading, all the same frame and have seen a sport and a pro snap in the same place (about 2" back from the headtube weld) same place the fullsussers go as well.

How do you know for sure? I am pretty sure when we have reviewed them they were described from Boardman as been differenrt.

i dont know 100% for sure but having had both both the sport and pro frames on the scale's they do weigh almost exactly the same (there might be 15or so grams in it) so even if they are different its still misleading to say one is lighter.

    Norco Fluid
  • The higher end boardman frames have custom butted tubing as said.
The lower end are double butted.

There are two frame grades, one for Sport and Comp, one for Team and Pro. If you compare them, the differences are obvious.

It is of huge concern that you claim to work there and don't know this. What store do you work in?
    Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S
    Boardman FS Pro
  • i also work at halfords, and they are different. + 1 for the better frame, their stunning, similar geomattry to on-one, with the long top tube.
Am i strange in that i actually ENJOY going up hills? Yes, yes i am.
