Wheel flex?

nearly got caught out by some stationary traffic today and had to slam the anchors on.
I'm fairly certain I could feel the wheels twist under me, as if the rim was stopping but the hub was still moving, then it sort of sprang back.
I've never had this feeling whilst on my MTB. Is this common on road bikes or is the Khamsin a flexy wheel?

I have seen cheap unbranded wheels flex loads, One of my mates has a Raliegh airlite 100, and just pushing the wheel it flexes an inch or two  but decent wheels shouldn't.
It could also be he fork flexing a bit, mine do that, and I only weigh 55kg, but I do normally have 20-25kg of panniers and stuff on the back. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle

That's not cool at all but you also have to remember that road bikes with caliper rim brakes wont/dont/cant stop like mtb with disc brakes, modulate those babies and you'll stop just fine.Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.0 -
no chance of modulating, it was a case of "fook me stop!"
As long as its "normal" then cool, just a strange feeling!0 -
