  • I know when we went about a month ago you could get over the moor to Crag Quarry. It was an absolute PITA in places though because it's not been made into an official link yet, (although once you find the turning out of lee quarry, it's pretty clear) so it's a couple of miles of quite deep mud. On it's own that wouldn't be too bad, but there is such a high clay content it was like riding through treacle.

Worth the effort though imho, I enjoyed crag just as much as Lee.

Might be worth meeting one of the locals who can show you exactly where you need to go. Don't think we'd ever have found the turning it if Whytepeak hadn't been there to show us.

The linking trail is very nearly open but it needs to be left to bed in a bit. Should be open in November. I saw the helicopter delivering stone today from about 5 miles away, very cool.
It's easier to ask for forgiveness than for permission.

    I've bought a new bike....ouch - result
    Can I buy a new bike?...No - no result
