Edge 500 Virtual Partner won't play fair

Can anyone tell me how to edit the course average speed on an edge 500?

I've been loading courses in as .tcx files from bikeroutetoaster. On the whole they work great, but my 'virtual partner' always finishes about quarter of an hour before I do. What I'd really like to do is set the speed according to my own previous time for a particular course.

Thanks in advance

  • Yay, I found the answer on a garmin forum.

For anyone who might be in the same position.....
select 'Do Course" then press Power/Light which allows you to alter the course speed in 5% increments. That should do the trick for now.

You can set the virtual partner as one of your previous rides if its a course you've done before. Makes it much more realistic otherwise it just takes an average speed for the whole course so kills you on the hills then you catch them on the flat.
  • you can also load the course into bikeroutetoaster and alter the av speed much more accurately.

This is what I do. 1st I enter course via bikeroutetoaster and best guess average. Once I do the course for 1st time I then save that activity as a course and delete the initial one. If I beat the time then I repeat the above so my courses are set at my best times
