I have a stable of well thought out very pretty mountain bikes, but I've been pondering getting a geared road bike for longer rides with friends at the weekends and so...
I've bought a CAAD9 (liquigas colours) frame in my size, but I'm somewhat struggling to decide how to finish it. Whilst performance is very important to me, the aesthetic of a bike is very important as well. Mainly because, due to space constraints, they have to serve as artwork on the walls when not being ridden.
I'm decided on SRAM (rival/force mix) for the drivetrain, and then ritchey (white) bars/stem/post with a fizik saddle (green), white bar tape and green hudz, and I'll be running Pro3 as I know i like those.
The big area I'm struggling is wheels. I've got between £150 and £200 for a pair but they've got to look good, ideally white and green (possibly blue in lieu of green), but still be light, stiff and good for fairly regular use. I don't mind building my own either or painting the hubs to get the right colour.
Please give me some suggestions.

I suggest you don't get white wheels - you have to draw the line somewhere....0 -
I have a set of kore streamlines on my planet x (see below) they have a semi aero rim (30mm) and white bladed spokes. I took the stickers off them as they looked crap but apart from that they look good and are very smooth and reasonable light for the money. Mine were £199.0

There's a line?
That was a the last white build, i think the green accents are going to make this very restrained in comparison!0 -

Under £200 for the set and at 1625g pretty light for the money and rim depth.

Now I'm no expert on mountain bikes, but you seem to have your handlebars on backwards. And your forks for that matter...0 -

The front end had spun round because the bike was tilted up in the stand...
I've just ordered some halo bits to build them up myself, those rims with the same front hub but the supa-drive rear hub for superclicky goodness.
Can anyone forsee a problem with building the rear radial non-driveside and 3x on the drive side?0 -

Just because you don't believe in it, doesn't mean it doesn't exist0

Hey, less of the old!
BTW, I quite like the white bike, is it your's? How white is it now?
(And I could look at the links on your signature line, but they won't work for me as I'm at work...)0 -
It is now practically completely white, there are a few adjusters, the carbon brake levers, end caps and brake adaptor not white.
It is very very very white, check out the build thread at some point and you'll see what i mean!
I work in a bike shop part time so i tend to be able to get exactly the things that I want, hence I have a few very nicely colour coordinated bikes...0 -
Just put Pro-Lite Braccianos on my CAAD5 and I'm impressed with them. 1500g for 176 quid,
