Michael Rasmussen is again accused of doping. According to a report by LPS, a sports program of the Danish TV channel TV2, Rasmussen on September 24, 2008 would blood drained in order to use blood doping. Under the recently convicted Austrian Stefan Matschiner Rasmussen would also co-owner of a blood centrifuge. The report indicates that when three riders on September 24, 2008 blood drained. Bernhard Kohl would have already admitted that he was one of three riders on that day had blood drain. According to Kohl, Michael Rasmussen and Italian rider Pietro Caucchioli the other two riders. Danish TV2 broadcast Thursday night at 22:30 hours on a reportageuit this report.
I don't get it. He still had a year to go before his ban expired, what would be the point of taking out blood that far in advance?
(Plus this sounds vaguely familiar... is this old news?)
(Plus does Danish Strictly do dope tests?)0 -

Cyclist Michael Rasmussen has already served a two-year ban from professional competition over doping charges, but now he possibly faces another case from international cycling union UCI.
According to Politiken newspaper, Rasmussen – whose nickname is ‘the Chicken’ – was implicated in a doping case that resulted in the conviction of sports agent Stefan Matschiner a few days ago in Austria.
In his testimony, Matschiner stated that Rasmussen was a co-owner of a blood centrifuge, a machine often used by athletes to help them hide traces of illegal substances in their blood when tested. He added that the Chicken had blood taken for use with the centrifuge.
The court in Vienna confirmed that Rasmussen, cyclist Bernhard Kohl and cross-country skier Christian Hoffmann owned the centrifuge. But the court determined charges would not be pursued against the three because there was no evidence to connect them with any doping violations.
Court spokesman Thomas Vescey told news agency AFP that there were no ‘elements to prove prior use. You could say they were lucky’.
But Rasmussen vehemently denied any connection to the matter, saying he had ‘nothing to do it’.
UCI indicated that although the blood samples from the centrifuge were never used by Rasmussen, the intention to use doped blood is still a punishable offence in cycling, and the Dane could face sanctions from the authority if the matter occurred outside the two years he was serving his prior suspension.
Rasmussen was given the two-year suspension for lying about his whereabouts prior to the 2007 Tour de France and thereby missing a random UCI drug test0
