Cycling England announced on the Govt Axed Quango List:

"No longer an NDPB - Abolish body. We have announced a Local Sustainable Travel Fund and will explore ways of marshalling expert input on cycling issues, including to support the Fund"


... no idea what CE ever did anyway ...

    They showed a clip of them teaching kids to ride on the road on the news this morning. All very laudable except not one of the kids looked over their shoulders before manoeuvering (although they did all give nice hand signals!).

    Probably abolished because of the stupid bloody name.

    Cycling England? What's that actually supposed to mean?

    A better name and a higher profile may have helped it.
