Van heating

Having recently bought a van I am loving the practicality and ease it brings to my mtb rides. Transporting the bikes, gear with ease and a mobile changing room is a great tihng to have.

After a cold night out last night I wondered if people have suggestions for a van heater that I could safely leave running whilst out for a couple of hours? Just something to take the chill off the rear cabin.

Coleman PowerCat and BlueCat are good heaters but because of the carbon monoxide emmissions dangerous to leave running.

Not looking to spend a lot of money so getting a diesel run heater plumbed in is not something I am considering yet.

Just wondered if van owners have come up with any innovative solutions.... :)

TIA

A freshly slaughtered Cow will continue to warm a confined space such as a van for a few hours plus you can cook it for dinner after.

I would suggest something from Eberspacher as they do a range of cab heaters for HGVs powered by diesel by after googling them to get the spelling the prices made the suggestion pointless.
I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.

I suggest lining the inside of your van with TInfoil.

Well, you could stay and watch if you want, or you could just head out on your bike, and knock on the door when your riding's finished.

Just before I finally had to have my 306 Dturbo put to sleep, the heaters packed in and it was the middle of winter. I had to keep stopping on the way to work to scrape the inside of the windscreen. That was a bloody miserable 2 months of my life.

    He said "heating", not "Helsing"...

Although, this would warm up any van:

My mate has a huge old LT 40 which he's done out with storage, benches, table, a sink, cooker, etc, and it can all fold down into a bed, but in one corner he has a super mini log burner, it can only hold 1 log, and its the smallest available anywhere in the world, but its awesome, there's a chimney coming out of the roof, and a little log burner in the corner. once lit the van turns into like a mini oven, TOASTY! obv, its only for when the van is parked up and your with it, but it is awesome, great after a surf.
    I like bikes and stuff

Years ago, when i was in college, I had a Renault 5 GTX. Driving home through a snowstorm once, with my mate skinning up in the passenger seat, and the windows just decided to open by themselves, and refused to close again.
We ended up ankle-deep in snow, and probably suffering the early effects of frostbite.
It was terrible, our "party tobacco" got blown out of the window too.
