Lock Alarm

Does anyone have any experience of bicycle locks with built in audible alarms, such as this:

They're no good, I use the oxford locks mini d-lock with alarm, it's gerat as secondary security or for coffee stops (you can run out and bludgeon them when the alarm goes off)

I've got one of these. I don't really use it. A couple of things:

- not sure how waterproof it is, so not practical living in Ireland
- I don't want to permanently fix it to my bike, but if I don't then it loses some effectiveness. Someone could cut it off and run off with the bike, leaving the the lock squealing on the ground

I would imagine this is a great product In some circumstances but just doesn't really work for me
