... in the peleton?

After seeing that Contador is/was quite liked in the peleton in the clent thread, who else is liked or disliked?

Obviously Ricco isn't - Tankink took joy in describing how he punched him on a decent.

What about, Canc?

Boonen? Andy?

Pip?

etc...

The bunch is made up of loads of riders all speaking different languages, it's hard for people to really know each other. Some get a bad rep for handling skills or not closing gaps.

Apparently Vino is not too popular though and many don't like Cav all that much. And Cadel Evans is a bit like Marmite.

Can't imagine any of the top riders care too much about being liked or not (Vino) - as long as they have the support of their team mates (Cav). There was a time when 'class' and 'panache' were considered important attributes in a true champion, but that ingredient seemed to be disgarded around 1999.

i think you would be surprised i imagine most can speak good english, and alot can probably speak a fair bit of french and flemish, i think cancellara is respected by most, and i think millers old teammates dislike him due to him doping and getting them kicked out the tour, to be honest anyone who has been caught for doping probably isn't very high it the liked ranks

What for? Doping or getting caught?
None of the above should be taken seriously, and certainly not personally.

Did Millar's doping get cofidis kicked out of the tour?

No, I was just going what he meant.

And I think Holy David is liked by most.

I agree with lots of what you said but just one thing: being respected is very different from being liked. There are often big names that everyone has to pretend to like because they are influential. Cycling's a small world and it doesn't pay for a rider to whine about others.

yeah i agree, i am not sure if people like fabian, after that tour protest but he seems like a likeable guy from the outside

That was the example I was thinking about. He managed to stop the race because he's an influential guy but plenty didn't like that at all. Only it seems quite a few bit their tongues.
  • they probably didn't say anything because they knew if they pissed him off they could be in for some very hard days if he decided to make them blow

Cav seems well liked by his team mates- and he is very loyal (re his support of the critically ill Johnny Bellis).

Daft topic! Do you like everyone you work with? I certainly don't and I know there are some who don't like me!

    .

Riccò is disliked even from his actual team mates.

It's interesting that people automatically assume that riders who've been caught will come back clean. If anything they're proven cheats who need to convince us.
