Cyclist collides into 6 y.o. boy in Bristol

This sucks. I doubt that the cyclist responsible reads this forum, but if you do, you should be ashamed of yourself you coward, same for the driver too.

    Wow! Two amoral people involved in the same accident. That is sickening...if the account is accurate. Neither of which was me, by the way.

    Some BMW drivers are also keen cyclists (like me). Let's not judge a book by it's cover all the time.

    We're all jumping to conclusions slightly here. There's not a lot of information in the article. it is bad that neither the cyclist or the driver stopped but there may be more to it than that. Using words like "collide" and "thrown" may be exaggerations, the kid may have run out into the road, almost run into the side of the bike and then fallen onto the bonnet of the BMW and simply been taken to hospital for a check up. Perhaps at the scene it didn't seem as bad as it is made out to be in the article?

    You may well have a point there. A mate's wife was in a car accident and their baby son was in the back seat. They took him to hospital for a precautionary check up. The local paper made it out to be more of a life and death emergency.

    Are we? its the not stopping bit that seems to be being commented on however its come to pass and however minor it may have seemed, to leave the scene of an accident without stopping & giving witness details (at the very least) is a bad show regardless of who was a fault. I still hope the wee fellow is ok.

    From the police appeal for witnesses:
    Ths incident occurred at around 8.15am on Stapleton Road on the one way section that runs alongside the M32.

    ...in collision with a cyclist travelling in the opposite direction.

    Looking at google maps it looks like a *very* busy road, not one that's easy to let kids to run across! Also by the sounds of it the cyclist was either crossing the road without dismounting or cycling the wrong way down a one-way section!

    Either way failing to stop is the greater crime IMHO!
