As I agonise over the options for my next shiny new bike memories of my last sportive return, and the groups and individuals I couldn't catch or keep up with.

The riders that disappeared before I knew what was happening.
The group that rode dull bikes with full mudguards.
The guy on the ancient all-steel fixed gear bike.
Purveyor of "up" :)

    ^ you mean the ancient guy on the all-steel fixed-gear bike? + beard and pot-belly, but still sprints up the hills past the 25-year-olds on full-carbon bikes? Yeah, I think everyone knows someone like that :D

  • I am a loner and have never much liked going at the same speed as other cyclists. Maybe this stems from an old guy blowing his snot over me on a clubrun in approx 1982.
