Bearings. Thought i had better service my headset before the onslaught of filth makes it go all grindy.

Everything hunky doory, then i opened the bag of bearings and had a moment. Some of them stayed in the bag, a few landed near the kettle but the rest just pinged and bounced around. Luckily I had forsight and bought 2 bags.

Makes me think it would be easier to buy the bearings in the metal cage things.

Oh and the bars turn like a dream now, even though there was still a good tablespoon of grease around the races, i could feel a slight drag.

Bets are on, as to when I slip on the said lost bearings.

  • not usually. i have had the bearings in the cage for the last 2 services. i just fancied seeing if there was a difference. apart from the faff. I will be resorting back for the post winter strip and grease.
