Anyone ever tried to fix one of the infamous faulty left 105 shifters that has lost its indexing?

Too late to get it replaced under warranty and damned if I'm going to give Shimano the money for a brand new pair of shifters!

Apart from blasting the internals with WD40 / GT85 in case it's due to ingress of dirt, I'm afraid there's not a lot else that can be done to save them - there's some fairly fine 'hair springs' in there and once gone the whole thing is toast - try ebay for a replacement. Compare the internals of an STI with a Campagnolo or SRAM lever and it's hard to comprehend the need for it to be so darn complex - more parts = more chance to go wrong! FWIW there were a problem batch of 105 levers a year or two ago
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
