Where to next?
So I'm completely addicted to trail centres having had a few tastes and looking for some recommendations based on my thoughts of what I've done so far:
Cannock : ftd / monkey
My first trail centre visit a few weeks back the day I picked up my new bike. Loved it for the descents and variety. Didn't like the gritty mud and the fact my rear mech seized with 4 miles to go.
Afan x2 : whites level then w2
Holy crap Afan is immense, even the climbs are technical and fun. Love the black section at the top of whites but really enjoyed the fast flowing singletrack of the wall (or was it sky line?). The whole w2 was just over my limit making the big final decent on whites a bit less enjoyable than perhaps it would have been were I alot fitter.
So where would you recommend next? I'm in southampton so most places are a bit of a haul for me. Cwmcarn is probably nearest but also tempted with mid and north wales.is it worth the extra distance or should I just go back to afan? Cannock isn't too bad a drive either

I love the trail centres and if you want to do them all good. Scotland would be the place to go next .
That said i would suggest looking at thread called London calling in the rides section, there is some awesome natural stuff that is more technical than trail centres not half as far away from you in the Surrey hills.
Maybe have a look at the thread and see if you wanna go go for a ride with the guys there somewhen.
there is nothing wrong with the natural stuff.Santa Cruz Nomad.0 -
TBH after afan cwmcarn would be a bit of a let down. i'm not saying that it isn't a good route but there's only 1 xc trail there. it's definately worth a visit but maybe tie it in with a trip to afan, it's only 10 mins off junct 28 of the m40

Thanks for the tips all,
Definitely like the idea of Surrey Hills, totally not against natural but have been caught hunting for hours for some decent trails in the past which is why trail centres are so appealing. Guess I should also just get more social on the forum and join some of the organised rides.0 -
