I have no idea on these, neither does the GF

any help with this is much appreciated?

Try the specialised female bg saddles.... You can test ride the different models & widths if you go to a bg store. It is worth trying different models as they differ. We got a week per saddle to try before deciding.
  • cheers I am gonna drag her to the specialised store at the weekend so we can see if she can try some :D

Sitting on saddles alone is pretty useless, I've had a couple and feel fine, but after 1 hour ouch..

Bontrager do a 90 day return policy - buy it and if you don't like it you can exchange or refund.

I like my Bontrager (I think it's a women's Inform RL - no pink but they do come in 3 widths so you need to find somewhere with the butt-ometer to to get a measurement). I also got a Prologo in the summer which I prefer.

Fizik do a white & pink one as well - can't remember the model.

    Yip...

We took a 4 different saddles away with us ( one a week) for about a month, which allowed us to get on a proper 3 hrour w/e run to test them. Once we were happy with the right one, we bought it.

You really need to do a test ride, that is why the specialised BG option is good. it is a fully refundable payment on return of the test saddle. no commitment to buy. Take your time and set aside a period of say a month to test & try different models (either from the same or different manufacturer) as each suites different people difffernt ways...

I find the opposite. A saddle only really becomes comfy after a while, especially if I've been riding the day before.

Anyway, don't discount men's saddles. My wife tried loads of "women's saddles" before settling on a classic Flite. She used that for about 8 years and for the last 5 years has been using various SLKs and SLRs, about the most minimal saddles there are.

When I was looking for a saddle for my 25 year old daughter, I was recommended the Charge Ladle: -

Turns out she loves it and is good value for money

It can also depend on the shape of her genitals - are the lips more pronounced and the geometry of the bike as she may require a slightly more upright position to relieve pressure from the front.

Daughter uses a Selle Italia SLK Lady Gel Flow on her road bike, and has been happy with it. Good enough for LEJOG, including a couple of 110+ mile days.

She hated the Specialized Jet female specific saddle on her second bike and has now bought another SLK.
