Scrapyards

Hello
I'm new to the forum but wanted to share some information that may help.
A friend of mine has just started working at a metal recycling plant which also has a scrapyard and says that alot of people bring bikes in granted not all are nice expensive ones.
But a lot do come through the gates.
My guess is that if people are struggling to pass on the stolen goods they just want rid.
Obviously most are just scrap.
I just thought that people might want to know that not all bikes end up actually being re-sold.

I took 1000kg of 'scrap bikes' to the scrapyard last week. All of them nicked bikes.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0

Wont get much metal prices for a carbon framed bike
Seriously, those who steal bikes will sell them on, somewhere, to somebody. I doubt they'd be willing to give their car or van number plates to the dealer to sell for scrap, it's not worth their risk. If they can't sell them on, they'll store them for a while.
Chavs might, but they'd probably paint the bike and sell within their own community for a packet of fags or 4 cans of Stella.CAAD9
