Tyre width

I've always used 700x23 tyres on my bikes. Now I've fitted a babyseat to my single speed winter trainer/commute bike I'm wondering will my bike feel a bit more sure-footed with a 25 or even a 28 tyre (if I can fit that wide)? It handles very differently with a babyseat and a baby on board.

Not a direct comparison, but the tag-along feels better on my mtb than my cross bike. I think it might have something to do with my body position, too.
    FCN 2-4.

One thing is sure- a wider (therefore higher volume) tyre will make riding more comfortable for you and you little passenger. I would expect that to translate as 'sure-footed' too. This is all dependant on tyre air pressure though.

My 37's are very comfy and pothole resistant :) Although moving to a 32 for the winter...
