Gavazzi's dad seems to think so

Now we've all heard the stories and what not, and young people + success + money usually = coke.

But is is a particular problem in cycling?

It's an effective appetite suppressant, albeit an illegal one.

That's one hell of a detectable substance. Don't even need a urine test, just look for telltale nostril-dividers on the floor in the Roubaix showers

I'm not sure how that would help a cyclist - they struggle to eat enough most of the time. I can't see it as performance enhancing unless they take it in the middle of the peloton (perhaps it might help for a prologue, but that's it)

There are clearly some riders who like a line now and again - but that's common to most sports. Unless they have a habit, then it won't do that much harm (performance wise)

However, I don't think cyclists are really known as party animals and they're more likely to be OOC tested (not sanctionable, but you still don't want to get caught).

Gavazzi's dad seems to be going down the usual 'I got busted, but everyone's at it' route of conscience cleaning (but on behalf of junior here).

Sure I read somewhere that David Millar swears by drinking 1.5 litres (!) of the stuff as soon as he finishes a race....

I don't know if it's more of a problem than in society at large. More in the rider at http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/4487/ ... nsion.aspx
Il doping è ancora diffusissimo. Oggi se non ti dopi è come andare in battaglia con arco e frecce contro i bazooka

"I have never seen doping in cycling, and never in the evenings in the urban environment, to put it that way," states the recently crowned World Champion.

I like the "sprinters don't have to dope as much" bit. Tell that to Gavazzi, Petacchi, Richeze and all the others.
  • its tastes great, just dilute half a bottle with water, also makes a great fire extinguisher on hot days. just open lid to activate...

I was waiting for him to say he's sorry for us that we don't believe in miracles.

The Cervelo TT apparently have terrible problems with Coke...

    Look at 6:51 in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fVY0fd7s ... _embedded#!

And then Theo Bos says it took him more than 45 mins to get Coke for Thor... terrible stuff (at 8:54).
