Is this a good buy ? Looking to upgrade from a aluminium tiagra triple. Ride hilly pennine routes so wonder how the double will compare. Would probably swop tyres to something more hard wearing ( Conti 4 seasons). Typical riding is 40/50 mile rides. Or should I look at something different - spec roubaix expert o maybe a Van Nicholas are in my sights. Thoughts ?

nice bike..
but it really depends what you want from a bike..
are you a racer?
as it looks pretty racey in terms of geometry and has a low front end on it.
so if you more of a comfort rider/sportive rider then i would reckon it could
be too stiff and unforgiving.
you mentioned van nicholas - titanium a very different material and buy all accounts
very comfortable.
the specialized is more a sportive bike as well - a longer headtube - zert inserts on the backend - not really an all out race bike - but gets good reviews none the less.
so what kind of rider are you?
if you are a sportive/comfort distance rider then i would recommend going van nicholas titanium - or the specialized.
if your a racer then go for the giant.0 -
I've got a 2009 one, it's great. Although it is designed as a racing bike I don't race (I bought it on the basis that I've got short legs relative to my body and the fit I had gave this and the Defy Advanced as good candidates. I tried both but preferred the feel of this. I've ridden it for a couple of years and love it, it's more than comfortable enough for long rides, even for non racing. But GD73's right, it's marketed as a racing bike, just felt good to me even knowing I'd never race it.
I've also got a Ti bike (a PlanetX Pro Road) which is equally comfortable, though a fairly different feel - not better or worse, just different. But as always do your best to clamber aboard each."The only absolute statement is that everything is relative" - anon0 -
It's a great bike, so you can't really go wrong with this price. However, you could definitely get better specs but with a compromise on the frame i.e. PlanetX Nanolight.0
