I was working opposite the pearson stand at the cycle show this weekend.
And got to know the guys there over due course. absolutley top bunch. really care about what they do and what they produce and still a family run business after 150years!
I slowly fell in love with their touche single speed, but the one thing that put me off is most of the frames are bought from the far east. Not a bad thing, but with a british company id like to see my money stay closer to home. The pave gets very good reviews in cycling plus and looks top!
I'd go for the palace though for a pearson. As for merckcx can't say im too clued up on their brand yet. Hopefully someone can oppose my points!0 -
Oscar,
I've already mentioned the write up of a test ride on an EMX1 on my blog
I didn't buy the EMX1, I got a Specialized Roubaix in the end.
The EMX1 is an excellent bike however, just different to the Specialized. I was looking for a real long distance machine and the Specialized is just slightly more like a touring bike- which would not be a plus point for most people! If I hadn't have tried the Specialized I would have happily bought the Merckx
Like most bikes at this price point the wheels are nothing special, on the Merckx EMX1 I tried they were RS20s. The Specialized I bought has Mavic Aksiums, also fairly mundane.0
