One will be entirely predictable and disappointing.

The other one will be Contador getting banned.
Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.

On a seriously note, they havent' said yet when anyone on Bert will be announced, have they?

Mumbles it was going to be Wednesday this week was the last I heard.

Given the UCI needs ASO to join their new World Tour calendar, any timing of the announcement in order to spoil Prudhomme's big day has the potential to cause real annoyance.

Prudhomme's got to be uppity already, just how many times can you relaunch a race with the promise of credibility only to see the winner caught cheating? Possibly you can try again for 2011 but having the media going over Contador at the same time won't help.

one will be a big news story, apart from us on this forum how many people are really that interested in the tour route ? Has any paper even published it at the time before ?

Didn't realise the UCI had said they were going to announce anything about Contador

Depending on the timing, they could use the presentation to formally strip Bertie of his win and present Schleck with his yellow jersey.

(Although, personally, I'd want to do a little more testing on Andy's samples first. But maybe they have done.)

It'll be interesting to see if Bert is at the ceremony. The reigning champ is usually seated in the front row alongside the other podium finishers.

I think there's more chance of seeing Elvis there.

I just wish one tour organiser would sort out a TT up a mountain and down the otherside.

Me too, but I suppose they'll always bottle it for safety reasons.

  You do realise there are countries out there where cycling is more popular than in the UK, right?

Nonsense. Next thing you'll tell me people use the metric system and roads get completely closed for bicycle races.

I was talking from a UK perspective. I'm sure L'Equipe and Gazzeto will cover this in detail but over here I don't think it will get much coverage

And I'me hopeful about the 2011 TdF route - if the rumours are to be believed; finish on the Galibier summit, most (!) of the first week flat stages with a hilltop finish; some early stages in the Central Massif; and a final serious mountain trime trial to Chamrousse. But yes, there's always room for disappointment...

yes, I got that; it's just that precisely because the route announcement is never a big story here anyway the UK perspective is less relevant in this case. In case they're announced on one day the ASO will be concerned as it spoils their party in all the countries where they would normally get media attention for such an event.

Get ready because there's talk of the TT being flat around Grenoble. 50-50.

I hope not i hate mountain time trials as generally usually a damp squib in terms of excitement a waste of a good mountain imo. Take Plan de Corones in the Giro ok a lot of fans out and about but in excitement terms its mince.
Gasping - but somehow still alive !

    S'what you'd expect.

The Tour is the only GT that properly tests all rounders, rather than just climbers.

Best Pyrenees stage is gonna go via a never-before-used climb called the Hourquette d'Ancizan (which runs parallel to the Aspin), then over Tourmalet to a summit finish at Luz Ardiden. Should be a good un if the GC lads aren't all sitting tight waiting for the final 10km of the final climb in the Alps.
Between me & Eddy Merckx we've won pretty much everything worth winning on a bike.

Or an improvement of a flat TT? mountain time trials in grand tours tend to be in place of flat TTs, not mountain stages. they're not that interesting to watch, but do stifle the GC a bit less
