SRAM Red Indexing (28T)

Hi guys,

I've just installed a SRAM Red setup on my bike.

Pretty simple, but I have a bit of an issue with the largest rear cog. I simply cannot set the indexing correctly to shift to that cog without messing up all the other gears.

If I actuate the shifter the RD moved to what seems to be the correct position (i.e. if I hold the shifter and keep turning the cranks, smooth) but as soon as I let go the shifter drops down and flicks back to the next cog down?!

Anyone got any ideas? Seems to happen in both big and small chainring.

check you have click 1 set to sprocket 1 (smallest)

it's easy to get all the sprockets out by one, and thus the big sprocket is in no mans land

otherwise, your limit screw on the mech may be limiting the shifting, so undo that a turn (but check the mech still cannot touch the spokes).

To add to what Maddog says, SRAM mechs have what feels like an extra shift at the largest cog - they feel as though they're shifting up again, but they're not (this is how they avoid dumping the chain into your spokes!). It sounds like you're interpreting that 'pretend' shift for a real one.
