  • Nice, although heavy those bikes are awesome. Are the 66s n180mm as thats the optimal fork length for those frames....... yep you need to cut those bars down, they are as wide as the bike is long ;)

Oh and remove the stickers from the frame (the add-on, MBUK stickers, they ruin the frame, the only decals on there should be Marin ones)

You should source a Marin Headtube badge from ATB sales.... and you can get proper Quake decals if you want to badge it, although if it were me, I would add a headtube badge and leave the rest raw

Apart from that very nice........ ;)

Cheers :) 66's are at 170mm, I may sell them and get some 180mm 66's or Domains etc. Bars a suprisingly ''usable'' at 800 but they are getting cut down to around 760.

Stickers are only on there to cover up the previous owners name, I may re-laquer the swing arm or get it powerdercoated next year by Argos. D'you know how much the headbadges are? I'll email em ;)

Should knock off 2-2.5lbs with lighter tubes/tyres and pedals :P
  • What he had his name sprayed on there??

Headtube badge will be around the £10 mark but I would say its worth that..... ;)

I would go for some Domains as they are resonably priced compared to Totems (which is the perfect fork for those frames)

Nah he had lots of single letter stickers on there which made his name, taking them off left some marks/outlines so just gonna leave some stickers over the top atm.

And yeah, it's just the 66s are quite light compared to Domains, and the bike's already heavy enough

Stickers and flat bar look gash, but apart from that, cool bike.
Get some 888s or Fox 40s on there :D

Stickers look abit naff, but I like the bars - wanted a lower front end plus they're red  Don't really need DC's atm, will stick to single crowns for a while

Fair enough. I just found that once you get a nice big fork on them, those bikes become a proper DH ripper.

They're only around 7 inches, but they feel absolutely bottomless. Fantastic suspension.

Yeah took it out for a quick street ride down some drops/steps, feels so nice - and suprisingly pedal-able for a full sus and it's weight :P
  • Looks like a bike that you can just point at anything and bounce down it.

    Nice one.

Looks nice, I like the raw finish (apart from the MBUK stickers- sorry). I bet that will handle pretty much anything, and for not too much money I guess?? I have to agree with most here that that these huge flat bars are a bit gash, but I know it's all very fashionable for the DH guys at the moment. Still, I can see it being awesome fun to chuck down a hill.

Cheers, like I said MBUK stickers are there to cover something up, will be removed and left plain once resprayed  Frame was £300 with shock, brand new headset, rear maxle and dropouts, seatclamp and seatpost, not bad I think :) I generally pick up stuff 2nd hand but in good condition, so hasn't cost too much for it's spec.

And I didn't buy the bars for the fashion, just wanted a lower and wider front end, they're being cut down to 760mm.

    Stem arrived:

Had to replace the rear brake hose, old one was too short - wanted black but red was cheaper. Oh and new red valve caps  Stuck some lighter tubes in and cutting down the seatpost will save around 1lbs.

On a bike like that, if you're concerned about weight, then you've probably got the wrong machine to start with

Where exactly does it say i'm concerned about weight?  Jut swapping the tubes for lighter ones, and cutting the seatpost down as it's nearly as long as the seattube

Few bits added, - Saint crankset, softer coil for the DHX, Conti Mtn King 2.4, and still got a Saint rear mech and Totems to go on.

Also completly stripped the frame, and cleaned every single component and bolt, runs far smoother now.

out of interest, how tall are you and how do you find the frame, size-wise and ride-wise? I may be purchasing one of these
