Dawes Giro 300 as cheap winter bike?

Hey all
I have an opportunity to pick up a year old Giro 300 for less than £200, very good condition.
Would this make a reasonable winter bike to do the odd run or commute (10 miles each way) in and out of work?
Appreciate your thoughts

Simple answer - Yes, I've a 100 I think (or 200 ...?) not the most advanced - mine's a 14 speed with freewheel as opposed to cassette but perfect as a commuter/hack IMHO.0

Seems alright, though do check the length of the cranks as they seem to be 170mm.
That is if you want longer ones.0 -
170 mm aren't "longer ones", that's standard. 165 are shorter ones, and hard to find because of it (relatively)0

What?
There are different lengths for different bike sizes.0 -
Well the bike sale finished today on ebay BUT it didnt reach the reserve and ended up at £220.
What do people this is a good price for this bike? Should I have bid higher??
