OK it's only a metric one so 100km rather than 100miles. And the last 14miles nearly killed me (lots of climbing then into a headwind all the way home) but it counts!

It reckons I did 1200m of climbing - is that a lot or a little for a 100km ride?

Well done,
less than an average CTC Sunday club run but we are in Devon and its hilly here. If you keep knocking them out you wont go far wrong. Get on the metric challenge next year keep the interest going.0 -
I was up and down the pennines so hilly for me too!
Do you lot have a half time cake stop?2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S

that's a nice looking ride, you're lucky to have some great countryside on your doorstep. I live in Wallsend and have to pedal 10 miles to see a blade of grass.
Rode to Cambois yesterday, which I thought was bleak, but then I went to North Blyth, 4 rows of houses and a club. 100 yards from the centre of Blyth for crows, 10 miles for cyclists.
Lovely pint in the club though0 -
That's why i moved up here from london. Initially for driving in the countryside (in my caterham) but now on my bike as well
Shame it was so foggy i never really saw any of the views!2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S

Majority stuff so much cake they go home
The usual crew then knock out the rest of the ride (cake asisted)0 -
Nice route dmch2, which direction did you do the ride in?
I live just outside of Crook so I know this area pretty well. There is so much fantastic riding in Weardale we are very lucky!Find your limits...and then exceed them frequently0 -
Anticlockwise as the climb towards durham through sacriston is always a killer somehow when going clockwise. And i love the descent into Durham from tow law.
Although the climbs out of wolsingham were probably worse on reflection!2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S

Aye Redgate bank out of Wolsingham is a bit stiff with a few miles in the legs! The fast descents are worth the pain though...was that your first foray into Weardale?Find your limits...and then exceed them frequently0

My normal hour route is west out of durham, Esh, then over the bank to Lanchester and back into Durham. Or a longer 100 minute route out to Tow Law and back. Been up further north a few times too.
Love it!
Going East is flatter but a bit boring. Although coming up through the Trimdons is good fun.2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S
