Cumbria / The Lakes

Have a long weekend in Cumbria coming up to visit family.

Has anyone any thoughts on Grizdale Forest vs a loop round the Lakes? As I say, I'm seeing family so can't take the proverbial (ie all day epic, etc).

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated - I've never cycled up here and want to make the most of what opportunities I get.

Cheers

The north face trail is well worth a ride, some think it's a little ragged but it still rides well. That said there are some brilliant natural routes in the lake district, which would fill the time well, for example nearby to grizedale there is a good ride up Claife heights.
Though if you don't know your way around (you say this is your first time in the lakes?), then it may be best to just tackle the north face trail at grizedale.

Grizedale, fecking brilliant. The NFT is Ok I suppose, but use it to link to the natural trails and have a real blast!! Some proper fast rocky descending available there!
Have a look see here: (Grandad, Dad & the Dentist being a personal fave, plus Redmist and .... you get the idea!!!)
