Northwind - Just checked the Fox site, and they say 200hrs/Annually for main servicing.

The top google hit is for 2007. 2011 manual is here:

    30 hours!

I called them out of curiosity (sad I no) the service intervals are exactly the same for 2011 (100 hrs)..though I can find two links one for 200 hrs and one for 100 hrs (both anually) anyhow here is the link for 2011 forks

Er, read your own link  The 100 hours is for shocks only

Er if you read it it states Float and F Series only.....Mojo say 100 hrs so as they service 100's of units per month I kinda believe them to be honest

Jeezo... It says "FLOAT & F-Series models only" for "change float fluid in air chamber" only. Can you think why Vans don't need that?

By all means believe Mojo over Fox themselves but this is the service requirement, direct from Fox. And they also say "This warranty is conditioned on the FOX suspension product being operated under normal conditions and properly maintained as specified by FOX." So if you fail to observe the ridiculous 30 hour period your warranty is void.

Oh wow... Further to that, the warranty also states:
    fluids

    GENERAL EXCLUSIONS FROM WARRANTY
"Oil changes or service not performed by FOX Racing Shox or an Authorized Service Center"

So it's actually telling you not just that you need to service them every 30 hours but that you can't do it yourself.

  • Christ on a bike, do they make these things intentionally complicated?

I do more like 500hrs a year, I've just not got that kind of money to be blowing on servicing.

Once a year I could live with, but at £150 a pop, any more than that just aint going to work for me.

I can service Rockshox forks as often as they like, because I can do it at home so it's more or less free.

I REALLY like these forks, and I DO want them, but this whole servicing thing is a MASSIVE sticking point for me. Why do Fox have to be such cnuts?
