I've never used wheelies.co.uk before, but I'm after summat that's at a good price on their website.

They're the online face of Tredz I think and are well into C2W.

My younger Bro had a Rockhopper from them, it had a manufactoring fault on the chainset. They offered to have it back to repair it, or he could bring it to Swansea to be fixed, or they'd send the replacement part, plus all the tools you need for the job along with some instructions - which was a good shout I think.

Went for option C as it was the quickest way.

I got the Mrs Scott contessa from wheelies and my Zesty from Sunset mtb in cardiff mate

Wheelies missed the delivery slot I phoned them and they were very helpfull and I got a free pair of Humvees :D
Loads of guys in work have been buying bikes on the cycle to work scheme from Wheelies and they have been pretty good. Any mechanical issues have been solved using LBS and Wheelies have beeen covering the costs.
  • Insurance replacement for me, no problems, except insanely inflated tyres (Like about 60 PSI)

    Update:

Monday 4th October - Placed online order

Tues 5th - posted finance agreement paperwork.

Wed 6th - 9:47am received e-mail from finance company accepting the agreement & stating they'd advised wheelies to process the order.

    almost a week later ...

Tues 12th - phoned wheelies to get an update on the order... they hadn't picked up on the communication as mentioned above so nothing had been processed ... rsrsrsrsrs :?

Said they'd call me tomorrow with an update (not holding my breath) ...

On one hand, the item I've ordered was a much lower price than anywhere else.

On the other hand, they seem very disorganised - if I hadn't phoned them today who knows when (if) they would eventually have got round to processing my order

They're the default shop used by insurers, I've only ever heard good things.

My work uses them for our cycle to work scheme, first bike i had was a road bike with a carbon fork with carbon steerer, and despite it having a bung for carbon forks in the box some numpty had hammered a star nut into the carbon steerer, eventually got replaced but took a lot of e mailinig and phone calls on my part, too many in fact.

Second bike on the scheme was a cross bike and some clothing after the order was put in it turned out that none of the clothing items i had ordered were actually in stock despite the site saying they were so i got fobbed off with replacement items, then the couriers ballsed up the delivery 4 times, when i eventually took the bike out of a very battered box the brake pads were so loose in the calipers that they were spinning, the HT2 bottom bracket had clearly been fitted with a monkey wrench or similar rather than the apprpriate tool as it was chewed up and the headset was so badly adjusted that there was about an inch of play in it, had i followed the instructions to "just turn the bars, tighten the stem bolts and your ready to ride" it would probably have led to an accident.

    I hate them!!

I used them a few years ago for an insurance replacement, prompt delivery. Never had a problem with the bikes they sent

Our company uses them for C2W. Issues with stock, misinformation, lack of knowledge and general "can't be arsed" attitude. They seem fine if you just want any old bike they happen to have, but hopeless beyond that.

I wouldn't use them or recommend them.

They're my LBS and the boys in the shop are great and can't do enough to help. I'd recommend them to anyone.

As far as I'm aware, Tredz & Wheelies are two entirely separate businesses - they just both happen to be in Swansea.. ;)

    Latest update:

Remember I said they'd promised to call me back today?
Well, surprise surprise, they never did...

    So I called them.

Turns out there's now a 2 week wait because the item I ordered is not in stock

Of course, they never thought to tell me this, just waited for me to call them and hassle them about it...

Apparently they will call me again on 27/28th Oct.
They won't, of course, so I'll be calling them. Again.

I've never experienced such shoddy service.

Utterly useless, and the girl who took my call sounded exactly like someone who couldn't have cared less.

    Their website states:

"We always aim to despatch your goods with 24 hours of receipt of your order. If due to availability this is not possible we will contact you to keep you informed."

    None of the above happened.

Aaaaaand guess what, 27th came and went...

    no phone call or e-mail...

    2nd Nov I e-mailed wheelies...

apparently the item did not arrive from the supplier as expected on 27th...

but they didn't have the presence of mind or courtesy to tell me this until I chased them up about it... again...

    Completely Utterly Useless.
Worst customer service I have ever received in all my years.

You are right in the fact the they are two separate businesses but they are linked.

Both Limited companies (Wheelies Direct Cycle Solutions Ltd and Tredz Ltd) share the same registered addresses (Kingsway, Swansea West Industrial Park, Swansea, SA5 4DL) and there is also at least one director, who is a director of both companies.

There is also a 3rd Limited company (Wheelies Direct Ltd).

Had to use wheelies to source my replacement bike on insurance. Being a Trek I had to drive from Winchester to Swansea to pick it up but the deal was worth it. No hassle with that, got exactly what I was expecting, ready for my arrival. However not long after I took it to my LBS to have them check out a noisy BB which needed repacking and their comment when they gave it back was "who set that bike up? it was awful! everything I touched needed tightening or adjusting" (thought the back end was a bit loose...). So might be worth getting it the once over before you start riding!
  • Wheelies & tredz are my LBS.

Never used Wheelies online, but as a shop its not too bad, good range and always helpful. Bought quite a bit from there and always great advice etc. As for their work on bikes, its very mixed. I've had a headset fitted and it was done spot on, also had a break bled there, it was an utter pants bleed, and i ended up buying a kit and doing a better job myself. I've heard similar stories from other customers too, its a bit hit and miss.

Its a good shop/company, just be firm and know what you want and expect from them and make sure you get what you wanted.

I have claustrophobia, so a bike is absolutely essential for me in avoiding London public transport. So having my bike stolen recently was particularly hard.
For the replacement I've been forced to use Wheelies due to my Insurance policy. Their customer service staff have been rude and unhelpful twice in two days. They don't seem to have much product knowledge either when I'm spending money with them. They have badly mishandled a bike delivery and blamed not only the delivery company but also other departments when I've got frustrated with them and done nothing but aggravate and annoy me and made a bad situation worse after my bike got stolen.

They also refuse to respond to email or return calls. I'm disgusted with their customer service, I would not recommend them to anyone and I have lodged a complaint with my insurance company to investigate their most basic failure to deliver a bike to me.

Also their website is appalling to search for something basic such as carbon fibre frames.

Ok for me, Insurance replacement bike; Great guy on the phone who discussed all my options, delivered when stated, bike and accessories all received as described. Great result from a Shi**y situation.
