Hi, is there any such thing as a water repellant additive to make normal cloths such as jeans and normal shorts water resistant?
I seen the stuff for reviving wet weather gear but nowt else.
Cheers,
Rob.

Only thing to watch out for with some of the wash in water repellents is because they coat both sides of the fabric they can reduce the breath-ability......
I have used the stuff for fleeces and that was OK, but have hear of people finding life gets a bit sweaty with other fabrics- bit like some of the in wash re-proofers for clothing.
(also can have bad effect on washing machine!)Wheeze..... Gasp..... Ruddy hills.......0 -

I'd smell like an old green wax jacket!
I'll take a look at that Nikwax stuff.0 -
I find wrapping my self in black plastic bags then using a hair dryer to shrink them to my clothing works well.
Altura do cheap waterproof shorts that are cycle specific. Cant recommend enough cycling specific kit for mtb. Much more comforatable and practical.

its for when i'm cycling to the pub you see. Don't want to be wearing cycling stuff but getting caught in the rain on the way is not much fun.
Its mostly for my jeans.0 -
