Track standing tools

On my commute home last night I was waiting at some traffic lights which had turned to red just as I got there. I'm standing there with one foot still clipped in and the other on the floor when a block comes by on a Brompton (lets call him Brompton Man). He goes past me and then starts to track stand whilst he's looking me up and down and checking out my bike (one of these http://www.ridley-bikes.com/pd/gb/en-gb ... ross/x-bow which I use for commuting) and you can tell he's thinking "yeah look at me, I'm track standing, I'm a real cool dude". Inevitably he starts to wobble and after about 15 seconds he has to put a foot on the floor. I have a little chuckle to myself and stand there still waiting for the lights to change. Then another bloke comes past, this time on a road bike with flat bars (Flat Bars Man). He goes past us both and then he starts to track stand, only he's a bit better than Brompton Man but as he is track standing he's starting to move forward slowly in an attempt to keep balance. Eventually he's gone so far forward that he is about to move into the line of traffic coming from the right so reluctantly he puts his foot down. Again I have a little chuckle to myself.
The situation now is that both Brompton Man and Flat Bar Man have gone so far forward that they cannot see the traffic lights. I, however, can. As the lights change I ride past then both whilst they are still stationary and without showing any effort whatsoever I move through the gears and speed off down the road leaving them both with just the view of my arse as it disappears into the distance.
That’s was the last I saw of them but the situation kept me smiling all the way home.

Not as cool as one guy I saw.
Cruised up to the traffic lights on his fixie - stops at the red light in a track stand. Then, with one hand, pulls his phone out of his pocket, texts (all whilst trackstanding), puts it back in his pocket, then when the lights go green - heads off.0 -
Once saw a girl trackstanding with her arms crossed in front of her. Though it was pretty cool.0

I read the title and thought the OP was going to be telling us of a new device to hold bike upright when stationary.
Imagine how disappointed I was when...... :oops:Want to know the Spen666 behind the posts?

I didn't realise there were tools available, I thought you just had to do it by your own skill0

Me too, I thought there was some kind of kick stand you could put down at lights. Shame, would have bought one as commuting is ruining my cleats!0 -
