On saturday I did something very stupid and tried to take a corner at 30mph and my rear wheel clipped a wet drain cover and slid underneath me resulting in me aqua plaining through gravel.
3 inchs of skin now missing from my elbow, bruised and swollen hips, knees, shins (from spds)
Went to the gym the day after and leg swelled to twice size.
Went to hospital where a nice chap scrubbed the elbow with a toothbrush to remove the grit.
Skin also missing from knuckles which became infected on Monday.
So pretty sh*t time at the moment.
Saving grace was it was on the sirrus not the roubaix.
Lid (not 1 scratch).
Point is, I was fu*king stupid to ride at that speed in that weather.

keep an eye on the infection, I got an infection through a badly cut up elbow and ended up on IV anitbiotics as the infection kept spreading. If you think it is getting worse at all go back to the doctors.

I do this ride 252 times a year (to work and back) and the previous 251 times have been perfect, this was an exception because of the weather.
I didn't ride over the drain, the rear wheel clipped the edge and in the conditions was enough to do the damage.
There are two drain covers on the corner(bend) so when you take the corner you ride to the left of the drains, but both drains start on 1 side of the road and cross over to the other side.
The bike has been amazing, the Sirrus comp is great at cornering( but not me  ) thankfully £130 has got it back on the road with new 105 rear mech, front light, bar ends, cables and so on (cheers Certini)

No one saw the incident as it was mid night when I finished work and no cars around.

The wounds are healing nicely cheers everyone.

This was purely me being very very stupid and mis judging the weather

I second this. I got a really bad cut on my elbow infected and had to have antibiotic cream and keep it bandaged, still have the scar
