Frame/Serial numbers

Hi,
I need to get my bike's serial number to give to the insurance company. On the bottom bracket there are two alphanumeric codes at right angles to each other. One is 8 digits (xxxx0000) long and the other is 7 (x00000x).
Can anyone tell me what these numbers mean and which one I should give to the insurance company please?
Thanks.
N.b. the frame is an aluminium Cube.

Why not just give them both numbers as the unique identifying number on the frame? It's a hypothetical question ultimately.0

Don't forget that some bikes, such as Trek, have frame numbers stamped on the rear drop-outs.0
