Fuji vs Specialized

I'm trying to buy a entry-level road bike. I've narrowed it down to two bikes: Fuji Newest 1.0 and Specialized Secteur Triple, both 2010. I'm not looking to spend more than the $750 that they're listed at.
I liked the Specialized frame better and thought it was a bit smoother ride than the Fuji. I appreciate the smoother ride and the fact that I could still call upon speed whenever I needed it. But the main difference is that the Specialized has Shimano 2300 shifters while the Fuji has the Tiagra group. I couldn't tell that much of a difference, but that was mostly due to me being new to a road bike.
I need something that will last at least five years since I'm a student and don't have the budget to be replacing components, etc.
Any thoughts/opinions would be wonderful.

I'm no expert but you can't go far wrong with Specialized. The Secteur is designed for Sportives also look at the Allez which i ride which has a more sporty geometry.0
