New Road Shoes - Size Quandry

Hi Guys
Time has come to replace my old road shoes and clearly, to benefit from the best savings, I want to buy online.
However I get the impression that most road shoes require you to order a size bogger than your normal everyday shoes to get the best fit.
Problem is that my foot size is on the borderline between a UK9 and 9.5 (Euro43 and 44). Do you think it OK to risk opting for the Euro44 size or would I be advised to go for the 45.
I know some online retailers are pretty good at taking returns and swapping sizes but others seem to make it their mission to be as obstructive as possible - I would rather avoid the hassle of finding out which is which.
I don't have a huge budget for new shoes (up to £80 max) so no suggestions of the stratospherically priced race type variety

Same size and similar price, have a look at Northwave Vertigo size 44, they've got a nice wide fit too.0

If you're not sure then it's pot luck chancing your arm trying to buy online.
The safest option is to bit the bullet and visit your LBS.0 -
Order both from Wiggle and send one pair back?0

I have bought shoes on line and learnt from early mistakes - always a size larger than a walking shoe for bike shoes seems to have corrected my initial error - but if youre buying on line from a shop surely they will exchange0 -
Buying online you are covered by the distance selling regulations. You can order try on and send back anything bought this way. But you can't use them obviously. As others have said buy two and send back the one you don't want as this will be easier on postage costs.Norfolk, who nicked all the hills?

Same here with the 43/44 thing (runners are 43, day-to-day trainers 44).. Ordered some 43.5 Diadoras from CRC. Left was OK but the right was too tight on width, almost painful. 44.5 are much more comfortable (which I ordered afterwards).
By both at the same time.
Strangely my MTB shoes are 43 and massive.0
