Boardman Carbon FramesHi

Im looking at the Boardman bikes, and was wondering, has anyone had any trouble with the frame and forks, as I have been told they are cheap frames and as they only have a guarantee for 1 year, I know of 3 people who have them say there good bikes, and the only real issue is the setting up by some of the Halfords staff.
I would appreciate any feedback on this topic

Knowing Halfords, double check all areas for carbon anti-seize compound (esp BB) also check all bolts aren't over tightened. And if they're loose either have heard of people riding off and wheels and bars falling off :roll:Say... That's a nice bike..

My wife and I both have Team Carbons. They are excellent bikes. Stiff, light, very well spec'd and of high quality. Most companies paint their carbon frames but Boardman are confident enough of their quality to leave the frames naked. Not many other companies do that!! Have a look at the frame and decide for yourself. They are very good.
The only people that slag them off are LBSs who can't match the spec with their stock or people who paid much more for similar bikes and now feel their pants may have been pulled down... by their LBS. No one likes to feel like they have been turned over.
The usual rules on Halford quality of set up apply but, other than that, buy with confidence.
With regards to frame warranty.. be careful. All manufacturers, including Boardman only warranty against manufacturing defects. If you snap your [insert bike name] 3 years into ownership its very unlikely that they will say it was their fault and replace it.Boardman Elite SLR 9.2S

i thought they were guaranteed for industry standard 2 years? . all i know is i havent found anything that contradicts the gist of the reviews yet, other than that only time will tell. i had to trust the reviews and believe that Mr Boardman MBE wouldn't put his name on junk.
usual rules of care apply with carbon bikes. if it takes a hit it can be damaged.0 -

Enjoy your Boardman by all means but don't make ridiculous comments about people who ride
other brands.0 -

true, but that seems to be what some people are saying about boardmans. its not a slagging match but i get the impression some people are just going by the price/spec alone to draw their conclusions. they never seems to be specific in their criticism. if mine holds up i'll be brand loyal i think. above comment accepted.0 -

No need to check the BB. It's all metal on metal down there.
Just check the seatpost. And the fork steerer if it's carbon. Bolts are a more pressing issue. However i don't think the problem with Halfords is anything to do with safety. More their (in)ability to set up the transmission so that it works smoothly and i've seen some awful bartape jobs from Halfords too.0 -
I'd still check the BB and apply some anti-seize compound to BB threads, had two people here said BB tube was dry.Say... That's a nice bike..

only had my Boardman team carbon 3 months, so far no problems with the bike the stock wheels are good and still true, no loose spokes. I have so far only changed the saddle to a selle italia the rest of the bike is stock, the bike was well set up, I had a friend from my LBS check it over after I collected it from my Local Halfords.
I am 11 stone nine in weight, and I only ride mine on good roads, so I hope everything go's ok with the frame and forks, (who knows time will tell)
I find the bike is a pleasure to ride every day , I hate the thought of having to stop riding it when they start puting the old salt on the roads again soon0 -
Seatpost is easy enough, what about headset? can that seize up to the head tube? I'd also apply copper grease to pedal threads.Say... That's a nice bike..

i assume they must have put some grease in the axles. it still rolls ok. i put carbon paste on the stem as well.
do grease the pdeal threads, and use the supplied washers.0
