cyclist dies at bolton abbey

  • I find it hard to know how to react to this - you simply don't get a lot of 79-year-old pensioners on Pinarellos, and - as long as it wasn't hit-and-run - I end up thinking massive respect to him and if he was cycling at 79, it must have been a big part of his life for a very long time, so he lived as he died. Horrible but we're not immortal so the end's got to come some day.

Reads like he had fairly serious injuries though there have been a couple of younger riders died in the highlands this summer while out on their bikes seemingly by unassisted fall.

I'm sure there was a classic "Felt unwell all day" one reported recently too, that will have been a heart attack then.

  • Bolton Abbey's a nice spot for the last tea stop. Some people will do anything to avoid the ride home. Poor old lad, though.
  • Poor man

All we can do is be glad for him that he died whilst doing something he loved.

  • We all have to go one way or another and doing something you love, can't be bad.
    Nice story.
  • If I couldn't go like this -

Entwistle died in hotel room 658 at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on 27 June 2002 . He had gone to bed that night with a stripper/groupie, Alycen Rowse, who woke at 10 am to find Entwistle cold and unresponsive. The Clark County medical examiner determined that death was due to a heart attack induced by cocaine

I'd happily go like this guy.

As previously said what better way to go than he did....

However, although he may have had many freinds, must have been a lonely life not having any relatives.....

But boy did he look fit and healthy for his age!

    RIP

When you've out lived your relatives your friends become your family. Didn't know the bloke, but from the story he must have been a good un. RIP

My thoughts exactly. My prayers are with him.

I was wondering though if you prefer to die like this or at home while sleeping? I would probably want the privacy though. Morbid thought.
