Best time to buy a new bike?
Peddle Up!

Following my recent postings on bike size I've decided to upgrade to a new machine. Over the winter I ride my trusty old hybrid so the obvious time to buy would be Spring - or is it? Wait until Spring, or look out for bargains earlier?
What's your experience? Thanks.

At the start of August, through September, At this point next years models are announced and you can often find discount of anything from 15-30+% on the current year models.
Another thing to consider for the last couple of years, many manufacturers have put prices up and/or reduced the spec of the next years model, so the discounted models have looked even better value.
There are still discounted 2010 bikes around, but obviously the most popular sizes sell out first.0 -

Now, because the 2010 models will be reduced, but have a few beers first to make sure that you get the bike you really want but can't afford.
If you're married, remember to use wife pounds when you get home!!!0 -

Don't you mean you tell the wife that it was half price and a complete give away and you could sell it on ebay for more, the shop must have been mad.
Oh yea you are quite right, buy it now! The beer idea is very dangerous and I wonder what that would cost in divorce, it may reduce bike buying power0 -
Now is a good time - it's when the run out models are being discounted to clear the way for new stock in the run up to Christmas & the New Year rush.
On top of wife pounds, don't forget to use Man Maths to prove to yourself that you can actually afford a carbon road rocket instead of a £200 jobby from Nobby's Bikes.0 -

I bought a car after a few beers. Spent too much on too much car that used too much fuel in too short a period. Spent 2 years justifying it to everyone before biting the bullet and going for efficiency over power. Might do the same over a bike purchase.
Still married though...0
