Spent four days up in N Wales. Awesome rides. Did Llandegla, Marin, Coed-y-Brenin. Some videos to prove it:

Not exactly suicidal but the climbs on The Marin are a beast aren't they! I hate criticising trail centres because of all the hard graft thats gone into making them but that one sure does test you thats for sure!

  • I wouldn't say test.. bore would be the option, they didn't bother building half that trail, they just went lets ride 18-9km of fire track then add 3 bits of ok single track to stop people actually killing themselves lol.

But i have heard great this about penmach

Gotta agree with you wholeheartedly on the Marin trail It is VERY old though, and comes from the time when forest roads were the thing to ride!

Penmachno is just fricking amazing though, is feels like you're pretty much never OFF the singletrack.

Penmachno, now your talking! Have ridden all the 7Stanes and most of the Wales centres too but have to say Penmachno is pretty special, it really is as good as people say.

Was in Mid Wales recently and also rode Nant y Arian and have to say some of the singletrack on The Summit trail is as good as anywhere I've ridden.

I know its all a matter of opinions but in my experience the Welsh trail centres are up there with the best for me.

Time to book some more hols I reckon :)

Thanks Tel39. My favourite trail has always been (and may always be) Penmachno. I have some good footage on my YouTube channel - here is one example. I love the wilderness, natural, and remote feeling, and, like you all say, the singletrack just keeps on coming... I hope everyone remembers to put at least a fiver in the honesty box - those trail builders did GOOD.

Regarding Marin - I reckon so much more could be done with it, linking in more singletrack and bypassing fireroad. There's loads up there, and it wouldn't need much effort. How can we get this started...?

Started? Not likely. The Marin's been more or less abandoned for years. What there IS in terms of singletrack is ace, there's just so little of it.

Maybe some of that big cash bounty being injected into North Wales MTBing will find it's way to the Marin trail, who knows?
