To be honest though the only way to find a lovely bike is to go to every bike shop available and peruse them at leisure , You will eventually find the bike of your dreams and believe me once you see it, even if you don't immediately buy it , you'll keep on going back to the shop to look at it :oops:A punctured bicycle

I've got a really bad case of brand loyality.. Giant..Find a bike that presses all you're buttons. Everyone can offer advice but its your cash. Go choose!
Ignore the voices, except the one in your head saying 'thats twice what I should spend, but I must have that bike'.
Good luck 8)Why tidy the house when you can clean your bike?0 -

It might be a silly question but what makes a bike nice looking?
Several cyclists have said mine is nice because it's white but I'm basically pretty confused. (And the whole 'a triple looks ugly but a is double fine' aesthetic argument completely baffles me)2010 Trek 1.5 Road - swissstop green, conti GP4000S

I think for me its anything (a bike in this case that makes you go WOW), this can be a car, clothes, tv or especially important the other person in your life.

There's a recognised hierarchy of pleasure in making a purchase. I forget the source; if I can find it I'll post it but in essence, the pleasure derives from various stages of the purchase, each stage generates a different amount of pleasure that is both cumulative and separate from the other stages.
It goes something like:
The search
The decision to buy
The provision of funds
The negotiation & purchase process
The post-purchase taking-of-ownership
The sharing with family & friends
The recognition by family & friends of the purchase
Use of the item
Etc
I can't begin to do it justice, but in essence buying something is a whole lot more than just deciding on a spec and buying the most suitable item with no emotion. It's about the build up, the act of buying, showing friends & family afterwards, and then using it. When I first discovered this hierarchy it made complete sense [to me at least]. OP has probably owned up to something that we all do to some extent greater or smaller. Good luck to him with it. Buy what you fancy most.0
