they're good but more than double the weight of the poshbikes nitrile grips which are very good indeed.0

the ritchey's are a claimed 32g? thats only 10g heavier not more than double...0 -
poshbikes 15g a pair for grey 23g a pair black, and the ritchey ones are listed at 34g on CRC.
I assumed you're a weight weenie as they're the only people who really use them as the extra security of lock-on grips vastly outweighs the weight saving.0 -

thats strange 8g increase for different colour. No im not really a weight weenie to be honest, just had a voucher for £5 at CRC so they didnt cost me much so thought it would be worth a try, ive got some peaty lock on's if i dont get on with them.0 -
The grey Posh Bikes ones are less dense, hence lighter.
I use Bontrager XXX Lite at the moment, but have used various foam grips over the years, the XXX Lites (like the Posh Bikes ones) are quite thin, the Ritcheys and Titec Pork Rinds are in the middle, the Bontrager Race X Lites are much thicker if you have big hands.
Never had a problem with grips slipping off either, considering how many people seem to worry about their bike weight it's the cheapest 100g you'll save!0 -
I've used the Bike Ribbon Legerra ones below and like them lots.

Ive got medium/large hands so hopefully the ritcheys will be spot on. I was after comfort rather than weight, although saving 100g is always a bonus.
Anyone get problems with them becoming hard if its cold?0 -
So these are more comfy on the hands over lock on grips?0
-
I use foam grips. They don't come loose if you fix them properly, are light, and more comfortable IMHO.0

No, and never heard of that being a problem either!0 -

Any tips on fitting? (ill post up pics when they arrive fitted )0 -
Been using the posh foam grips for several years with only one twist grip incident at an apallingly wet race. (Brake pads wore in half a lap)
I used to use hairspray to fix them which was fine, but now I use Spray Mount since I have it laying about anyway.
I regularly ride enduros and find them more comfortable than normal grips.0 -
I've got the lock on ones.

Fitted grips with no problems at all, sprayed some brake cleaner in the grip and on the bar, slid on easy and took about 2 minutes to dissolve and stuck the grip to the bar. I have to say that they are the most comfy grip i have ever tried and am pleased i purchased them, now just waiting on a free day so i can test them properly off road0

How do you find them for comfort? I fancy a pair due to the low weight, but am concerned the lighter ones would not be as comfortable.0 -
I used to use Pork Rinds, they weren't bad, they're quite narrow and fairly firm. Prefer the Posh Bikes Nitrile foam or Bonty XXX Lites.0
-
The Pork rinds are comfier than they look. You get used to the Krytonesque profile.0

I've been using the Superstar grips most of the year and they are comfy, and also relatively inexpensive.
Foamy Grippiness!
To fit them/remove them - just soak in warm soapy water!0 -
fittings not difficult, just a bit of break cleaner on the bar and in the grip, straight on and sticks.0

Been thinking about these for a while now. I suffer from getting pins and needles in my hands. I have Peaty grips but over an 1 hour riding with them and the hands start to suffer. I also have some Ergon grips which do make a big difference but dont really get on with them at trail centres as you cant wrap your hand full around the grip. oh, and i dont like the look of them lol
So, my question is, would some nice thick foam grips be the ideal solution? Comfort is more important that weight for mehttp://www.mudsweatgears.co.uk

Evo, I started at the beginning of this year with hand problems, and subsequently switched over to foam grips on all my bikes.
The grips are more comfortable, and the hand issues have gone away. That said, I also did ensure that things like brake levers, handlebar position were addressed too.0 -
Hairspray makes fitting easy and leaves them very secure. And they are comfy!
I don't use lock-on grips because I ride in stupidly tight woodland most of the time so narrower bars fit better. However I have relatively broad shoulders and would prefer slightly wider bars than the 670mm I have - so riding with my hands over the ends of the bars gives me more control on fast rough bits but I can shift my hands inwards if I need to clear a tree. With lock-on grips I'd need 710mm bars to get the same hand position.0 -

defiantly worth a punt. I used to have problems with stiffness in my hands with the peaty lock on's. no such problem with the foam grips, highly comfy. I use http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=39255 good luck
also if you use the link in my sig (below) you can get cashback on it as well I got £1.44 back so only cost me £7.550 -
cheers for the info Johnny Will def have to give these a go. Looking at the state of my other grip ends i may be wise to get lock on ones to protect the foam at the end of the bar 8)http://www.mudsweatgears.co.uk

Go for the comfiest, why the hell do people care about a few grams? :?0
-
Have you seen how many threads crop up about bike weight!?0
-
Yes! And i can't stand it! Who the hell needs a bike lighter than 28lbs?! Just get a bit fitter or take one less mars bar with you :?0
-
Because I enjoy riding my 21lb Top Fuel a hell of a lot more than I would riding anything that weighed 28lbs! Horses for courses and that.
The fact that foam grips are very comfy, whilst weighing 100g less than most lock-ons is a secondary advantage!0
