good piece of kit, I run the BB mounted one. Never dropped a chain since. Can get them in some nice colours if you search hard enough too.
  • can it be used ok with a front shifter
  • yea, i have a double front with bash.

the wheel is split into two sections, a bigger inside diameter half when your in the small ring, and a smaller diameter outer when your in the big ring. Its a dual specific chain device. Great bit of kit. I found it better using a spacer outside the device on the BB though because the chain scrapes against the arm otherwise... just a bit of front mech tweeking and its ok.
  • out of interest does it add drag on the pedaling bits i won't want to add any resitance if you see what i mean
  • rolls pretty freely, you dont know its on. It just holds the chain round the front rings a bit more. Keeps the chain engaged more so its less likely to come off. Not as effective as a top and bottom guide for a dual ring guide its probably about as good as there is. I looked for ages before I found it.

Yup, got a stinger on my hemlock too, I never know it's there, except that my chain doesn't come off much. There probably is a wee bit of drag but nothing I can feel. Simple but effective. Doesn't fit all bikes though ( I had to cut mine up to fit it because of the low swingarm) , i'd think it'll be OK on a Five with the elevated swingarm but you'd need to try it or find someone who has to be sure.
