Pah... Like so many above I think I beleive in Farrar and Friere more but - long game to play - MRR = Gilbert
Fair play to FJS; courage of your convictions and all that.
Right time to settle in for a long night0 -
Well done Timoid. Top of the Worlds with two golds, a silver and a whatever-colour-medal-you-get-for-sixth. Joint second goes to kitten2010, ratsbeyfus (only person to pick the elite men's winner) and FJS, who pulls back 20 points on Kléber in the overall.

 Timoid won?! Bottoms... I thought I did. Congrats and all that to Timoid, but I spent all of 10 minutes this morning making my new avatar.
Can I keep the rainbow bands as I was the only one to pick Hushovd?
That's enough emoticons for now...
BTW - thanks once again AFX. Much appreciated!0 -
Should have had more faith in my thundery friend
Cheers afx0 -

Hmmm. This is all a bit like Australia's Next Top Model. Gimme back my tiara
Now to get me some rainbow striped shoes, gloves and handlebar tape.
Thanks once again monkey. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

Let's share the bands... you can have 'em on your avatar for threads about Women's road racing and time trialling, and I'll keep the bands on for any discussions about men's racing... you can't say fairer than that! 8)0 -
Well done Timoid and thanks as ever AFX.
I was close to picking Hushovd but settled for Gilbet as I thought he was more versatile, able to attack and also to land a top-10 if it came down for a sprint. I watched the race feeling happy seeing Gilbert in the lead and got a big shock when the whole group came back right at the end
Since I'm in the lead, maybe I should plan a special avatar?0 -

Fraid not. Last year I was in the same position as you after picking the men's winner solo, but blowing it on the women's time trial to finish a painful second.
Ace avatar though. Your ten minutes weren't entirely wasted. It's a little like wrestling a gorilla. You don't quit when you're tired. You quit when the gorilla is tired.0 -

In that case surely I should still have that rainbow avatar as last year's winner, if only for a last couple of weeks.....
Mixed feelings about today - happy with the 20 points gained, but gutted Freire didn't do a bit better in that sprint - and chosing between Freire and Hushovd was more or less flipping a coin in the end.
Well done Timoid. And ratsbeyfus. And Afx - two races to go!0 -

Fair enough... I give in. Temp avatar in place until I have another spare 10 minutes...0 -

well done"If I was a 38 year old man, I definitely wouldn't be riding a bright yellow bike with Hello Kitty disc wheels, put it that way. What we're witnessing here is the world's most high profile mid-life crisis" Afx237vi Mon Jul 20, 2009 2:43 pm0 -
Could we not bring this jersey back for the overall PTP winner
