Have decided to get a quality headset but dont know where to source one from for a good price. I was thinking maybe hope or cane creek. The FSA gravity ones have been pointed out to me already but want something a little better.

Also want to get a headset press that will work with the 1.5" headtube. Would prefer to buy rather than a DIY jobby. I have seen the Cyclus one but that doesnt do 1.5" would preferably want a press that does all sizes.

My cyclus one says it does 1.5. I'm not quite convinced though.

  • I like Hope stuff bit I don't rate the headset (been using them for about 5 years). Look at Chris King or Acros. Both are better products IMO.

Got a Cyclus 1 to 1 1/8 press which has stepped parts on the press ends which I think means it can press anything between. Not certain if it will do exactly 1.5 though.

Works fine though. Cheap from Bikestore.

Might need a headset cup remover to remove the old ones (and a big hammer or mallet and be prepared to hit it very very hard!).

P.S. Have you checked what you've got already? As long as you've got plain external you're okay. Integrated is another matter as I think you can't replace the cups, but you save money on the tools as you don't need them.
  • Cane Creek are very good headsets.
  • would be interested in finding out too other options as I have bought the sam mmmBop + rev forks combination as you :)

How nice do those forks look :) I think I saw PBK selling seperate top and bottom cane creek heasets.

Someone must be using a Press for 1.5 headsets?

My "2 blocks of wood and a bit of threaded bar" press does 1.5, and cost about £2
