Other info: Only upgrades to original spec in pics are lock on grips and Hope seat clamp. Standard spec at the time was Reba dual air but switched to Rev 409 for a bit of fun.

The bike has so far been great. Very quick off the mark and a great bike to get confidence back with after a terrible bike. only fault so far has been the Rev fork which jammed up over last winter and was fixed and upgraded by Fishers.

130mm is really too much for the frame unless doing some very steep and rocky stuff (then it is a hoot). But 115mm run quite soft is very good for hard riding. For general XC and climbing 100mm is the only choice.

Shame you can't get them for that spec for the cost anymore.

yeah it's a bit of a shame you don't see so many.

The graphics are a bit "word art" but on the flesh they look a lot better than pics.
  • Nice!..I've got one too...love it to bits :D
    Caz xx
  • The Merlins look excellent... I may have to make a trip to the shop.

  • Have a Malt 1 and find it hard to find fault, the gold finish of the 2 looks much better though. Kaytronika, try a size up from normal, the top tubes are very short.

  • A lot of people say the top tubes are short on Merlins, but it's no different to my Hubbys GT avalanche 2.0, and some people say thats a roomy bike.....tiz very odd

    More Malt owners :D

i wouldn't say the top tube is short. Just 'normal'. The problem is I have a long body so I am switching frames to a longer TT frame. Already got the seat as far back as I can (already gets light on climbs) and I hate long stems (currently running 90mm).

It's not really worth selling as they don't seem to fetch as much as they are 'worth' due to the name so I am converting it into a light weight rigid with semi-slicks for hacking around on and cycle paths with the missus. Should build up into a very light bike with no suspension or chunky tyres.

Really nice. Malts are very underrated in my opinion. A rider's bike rather than falshy showroom bikes others may purchase IMO!
    Liek the gold finish. Classy.
  • love the finish on the frame !
