I want some advice on a new frame.

I have 100mm RockShox Sid Team forks and have narrowed my search down to the Giant anthem or Turner flux

(the website of turner sell them with 120mm forks but I believe they were designed for 100mm)

im 6ft 2 and believe I am an XL in both

all thoughts welcome

  • Spooky... I'm looking at the same thing at the moment.

I've got a full bike's worth of kit to transfer and as I can't take advantage of the Ride to Work I'm erring on the side of buy new frame and transfer. I've had a Turner 5-Spot for years and loved it, so the Flux is an obvious choice.

That said, if you're looking frame only, there are a myriad of other choices out there... finding places to try them however is much tougher.

Afraid I can't help with the advice, but shall be watching this thread with interest.
  • Thanks.
I can get both for the same price but cant try either. but not a massive issue as I feel both are top notch. didnt try my last one either and had no problem. Giant dont have any in for 3-4 weeks (one of there guys did say he always wanted a flux)
just a bit concerned with my forks and the flux. conflicting views on this websites review page and what turners actually sell

I have ridden an anthem for a few hours and have to say, if i were to buy any XC bike, this would be it. It wasnt quite what i was looking for in my own purchase, but if i was XC only its super rapid and agile.

Its light too, steep head angle and low BB means it turns sharp and precise, acceleration is good and it feels great on the hills despite me being rubbish at them. on bumpy ground i got a fair few pedal strikes but i guess that reduces when you get to know the bike better, but it had no issues shrugging off some bumps

I am 6 foot 1 inch and a little bit, and the bike felt a real nice size, but could have done with a shorter stem, so id certainly say the Anthem for you at 6'2" would be a Large.

I've ever seen or ridden a Flux, so cant comment, but do get yourself a ride on an Anthem, they are very very good
  • What price can you get the frames for?
I will be building an XL Flux over the next few weeks. I will post a build thread as and when.
I will be building it with either the Rockshox Sid xx 120mm or the Fox F120 rlc.
    I am still undecided.
If you have visited the Turner section of the MTBR forum there are some interesting Flux builds on there. Even an all mountain one running 140mm.

When it's built you are more than welcome to come and try it.
  • Eyon agreed about just XC

just purchased my turner flux frame (£1195) and also got 120mm reba team dual air forks . Thanks for the posts it was helpful

  • Just out of interest, where did you get the Flux from and what year is it?
