sorry mods :oops:
you might/will stand a better chance of a reply if you post on singletrackworld. lots of Edin riders post on there. Pop into Edin Bike Co and Alpine Bikes, speak to the guys there for info. Is there not a uni club?
The obvious mtb mecca is Glentress from Edin with the Pentlands being an easy bike out depending on where you stay.
You will also be only 1.1/2hr from Dumfries 7Stanes

Also in Glasgow, don't forget one of the best groups around, cater for all levels, and ride all over central Scotland and beyond.

I know plenty of trails round Glasgow, and I am sure some of the Edinburgh guys will be on soon too. For Glasgow many trails can be accessed without a car, but for the 7 Stanes you may need one.
Happy riding!!"Encyclopaedia is a fetish for very small bicycles"0 -
thanks guys...... will check out the websites, then when i know where im going, i'll probably be meeting up with local groups, as it doesnt look like the uni's have any biking groupsMTB - Scott voltage frame, hand built

Hi Kat
If you fancy poping down to Dumfries anytime for a ride round Ae/Mabie/Dalbeattie or Drumlanrig just shout up.
You can get a train from Edin to Lockerbie, will pick you up.
Trains to Dumfries from Glasgow. Stop/get off at Sanquhar for a ride down to Drumlanrig or a proper hill route/ride;

Hi Kat,
Don't know much about Glasgow, but Edinburgh Uni has a really active cycling club, couple of rides per week, and trips. I know some of them through having been at St Andrews uni, and meeting them formally and informally through the mtb scene in Scotland (which is fantastic btw). You'll be sure to meet plenty of decent people in Edinburgh, if you end up there!0
